2015 Hangzhou Western Trailcatcher Challenge - Rules and Regulations

About the Race

Welcome to the first ever Hangzhou Western Trailcatcher Challenge. The majority of the 25k race course is situated on the Hangzhou western Longwu Mountains with a total 1350m vertical climb. It features some of Hangzhou's most scenic as well as technical challenging trails. As a rarity, most parts of the course are of natural surfaced trails and few stairs, contrary to other Hangzhou trail running races. It is beginner friendly and will also serve seasoned trail veterans as a perfect warm up race for the winter season.

Course Map and Elevation

Trail Blazing

  1. The race course will be marked at intervals no longer than 200m, Should you not see a mark over a distance of 200 to 300 meters, chances are you have missed a turn, unless it is a straightforward trail. Do go back and re-check at the last marking.
  2. Significant turns will be blazed with larger arrowed mark.
  3. Volunteers will be positioned on crucial intersections to make sure you can find the route without much delay.

Race Registration

Registration for the Trailcatcher Challenge will be open on a first-come-first-served basis on our official race partner iRanshao

Qualifying

  1. Participants should be 18-65 years old with good physical health.
  2. Although we don't ask for specific proof of capability, we do expect particpants have at least some experience of running in trail. Some segments of the course are technical. Should accident happen, participants should seek help from organizers immediately.

Fee

Entry Withdraw

Should a participant wish to withdraw the entry, please apply by emailing trailcatcher@hz100cc.com between Aug. 18, 2015 - Aug 24. A 50% refund will be made after 2 weeks of the race date.

Transferring

Should a participant wish to transfer the registration to someone else, please lease apply by emailing trailcatcher@hz100cc.com between Aug. 18, 2015 - Aug 24, with contact details of the transferer and the transferee. Upon confirmation, a RMB 100 fee is payable to make the transfer final. Please be aware that participation with a bib that doesn't belong to yours will result a permanent ban for you and the bib provider in any future events organized by us.

Race Regulations

Basic Code of Conduct

  1. For environmental and safety considerations, using trekking poles are not permitted in this race.
  2. Please follow the marked course. Delibrate deviation from the course is a serious offense unless approved by the organizer. Should you get lost during the race, please contact us immediately and use whistle to call for help.
  3. No litter.
  4. Respect other racers, volunteers and communities along the course. Do your best avoiding damaging the trail or plants. Do not disturb, feed or aggravate animals should they appear on trail.

Mandatory Gears

  1. The race bib should be visible throughout the race.
  2. Hydration system, Cash no less than 50 CNY of cash, A fully charged mobile phone, Course map and some food.
  3. Make sure you carry at least 1L drink at the starting line.
  4. A pair of gloves to protect you from elements.

Re-fuelling

  1. No person shall be permitted to appear on the route either to run with a racer or to provide private re-fueling.
  2. Besides support stations, athletes can purchase from stores on the course for drinks and food.

Safety

  1. All participants and volunteers will receive an insurance coverage on the race day.
  2. Medical supports are available on CPs and Start/End line.
  3. Participants can terminate their race at CPs, with proper form signed and approved.
  4. A medical support outside the CPs can be called for by contacting the phone number printed on the bib. Participants should provide accurate description of their where-about to ensure a promopt aid.
  5. Please be aware that the organizers are not responsible for any outcome if participants violate the race regulation.

Withdraw during the Race

  1. Unless injuried, participants need to make their way to the CPs in order to withdraw from the race. A declaration form should be signed and racers should have their bib removed before leaving the course.
  2. The race organizer will not provide support or hold responsible for any outcome for an unannounced withdraw.
  3. Free transportation from the CPs to the Z.U.S.T. will be provided for racers. Destinations other than Z.U.S.T. will on your own expenses should additional charge arises.

Race Bib and Drop bag

  1. A dropbag no larger than 30L can be dropped at the starting line, with your bib number marked. Please note that waterproofing is your own responsibility.
  2. The drop bag is collectable before 15:30am with your bib or a valid ID.
  3. The race bib must be visible during the race.
  4. Please put your health information and emergency contacts on the back of your bib.

Penalties

We do our best to ensure a fair, green, safe race with mutual respect. However should inappropiate actions occur during the race, penalties will be inflicted accordingly.

Cancellation

In event of extreme weather or other unpreventable events, the organizer reserve the right to cancel, postpone the race or change course. Partial refund will be made should the race be cancelled.
